I lost all my guns recently in a boating accident. They all went overboard.
I would sell while the market is hot.
She should stay home and do more cooking like Babe Winkelmans wife did, and let her husband have some peace and quiet.

Try to get a gun that will shoot 3.5” shells in case you get hardcore into waterfowl hunting on big water, hunt late birds with some fat and heavy down to penetrate, especially geese. Also will make a great turkey gun in case you get that bug. I shoot a 3.5” only because they don’t make a 4”.
Take a look at the Beretta Extrema. Not sure if still made. Shoot anything from 2-3/4” trap loads to 3.5” late winter heavy goose loads. I think it is butt ugly but is tremendously reliable. To clean it, I rinse it in the lake. It is gas operated and gives a long recoil push. Less recoil than the other big timer the Benelli which last I knew was still recoil operated.
Better choice is to look for an older Remington 1100 with nicely blued steel and nice wood with a remchoke barrel. I like nicely blued steel and nice walnut - it goes well with a black lab in the blind.
A Remington 1187 was made in a waterfowl special with shadow grass camo. It was a sweet shooter.
Stay away from the Winchester 1400 auto.

It’s estimated that around 7million remington 870’s have been produced, if you did sell it and ever wanted another one i’ll bet you could get your hands on one. I just converted mine from a hunting shotgun into a tactile firearm with the help of a local gunsmith.

I wasn't happy with it not fully ejecting spent shells. Like I said it might have been from me short stroking it, and I tried a few different brands and it happened with all of them. If it was a short stroke issue, then that's enough of a reason for me to get a semi. I've had the same issues, especially while wearing a heavy coat. Its now my shed gun and a Browning Gold gets to go for rides.

Forgot I'll have a little extra money once I sell off the engagement ring my ex wife decided she didn't want anymore. Can't think of anything more fun that's legal that I'd rather spend that on than a new gun. Might be the difference between a Stoeger and a Beretta. I do like the looks of the Beretta A300 outlander mallard. maybe hold onto that ring for the next one?

Can't imagine any of the semi's would have cycling issues with 3" duck and goose loads? . Well, they will. I've had to repair many that were too violent for the extractor and/or ejector to function properly. Standard semi-auto SOP, one way or another, some loads are not stout enough to cycle and others too stout. ..especially gas operated. Todays engineers have bout got that plate licked, BUT, I've learned to never say never. The recoil operated system is much more reliable IME.

I don't know what happened to all my guns. Weird.

Hopefully your Beretta will be a great shooter like the extrema that I No Longer own. For shotguns I have always preferred Remington semi autos.. My son bought an Extrema and was badgering me to modernize into the current century. He said the gun was magic. I traded something that I no longer used.

If I had one I probably would but I don't have any either. Jim
Money cannot buy you happiness, but it can buy you a trapping license and that's pretty close.
