Had one of my more memorable days under ice yesterday. Had a few first, and a good day overall.

3 black beaver off one house

That makes me tired just looking at those beaver.

I pulled most of my sets, just a few close to town now

Nice haul! Those black ones are dandy’s too!

I assume that rat had killed the beaver and was dragging him to his den to eat him when they were caught. Ferocious little guys.

looking for spots to trap...competition is stiff out there ...I think I found some, I'll walk in this weekend

0 today, those are pictures from yesterday! There’s 4 muskrats in front of the fan, and the rest you can see in the picture!

(Use your fingers and toes, and your wife fingers and you should have just enough.. unless you’ve been fighting with a table saw)

That makes sense. The rat would have made it through, but he drug that beaver right into the triggers!

I will be checking and pulling my 4 remaining beaver sets tonight when I get off work. I expect them to be empty. I have one remaining beaver there but I expect it to lay low for a while after twisting out. I will be out of the area trapping by my farm so will let t it cool off for 8 days. Well one day I will go look for my rifle on the bottom of the lake.

Nice haul! Wish I was aloud to catch that amount here in PA. Very low limits aloud. Awesome job!

I really need to go some place where I can catch l beaver in those numbers in one check. Don't necessarily want to ski n em all in one day though lol.

Set the first traps of the year Saturday. Cleaned the rats out of two ponds, moved on to some new ponds today. May set for a few coons this weekend, was to concentrated on chasing deer to get out and set anything prior to this. Hard to get to motivated with the current fur prices. These rats are going to make their way to the tannery.

Very impressive lots of hard work before and after,I pulled everything Sunday which was'nt much.Fun season stayed within 6 miles of the house and went out west hunting twice,mule deer hunting.Set up1/3rd of the regular line and caught a little more than half of what i caught last year 28 canine's 2 XXXXXL coon in coyote snare's 3 bobcat's,1 marten and 1 skunk snared in a coyote snare???????????9"- 9" loop neck snared.Never set a otter,beaver,mink or coon trap this year.Again congrats on a great trap check day.I might go out and snare a 1/2 dozen beavers under the ice for something to do later,you have to love those heavy under ice beaver's.

Setting that many houses here would pick up one or two.
Just wondered.Usually about 1 otter for every 15 beaver or so when setting entrances.

I started at about lunch! I got the kids ready for daycare and cleaned up around the house (dishes, laundry...) and all the other little things before leaving. Checked my first trap around 11 am.

Boco sometimes you just have to understand Minnesota trapping politics. You got 30 years for lessons.

That about right, probably on the low end. Depending on the year you can do 1:15 - 1:30 here. Keeping traps moving in front of new beaver is about the best realistic thing you can do to keep the numbers low.

Nice bunch of beavs. My tennis elbow is acting up just looking at them. The kids and I have been sticking mostly to rats, lately. I've only been keeping about half a dozen beaver sets going along my rat line. Fifty rats and a couple beaver is about all I want to do at once.

SJC...that looks like a lot more fun than what I am doing. I will gladly skin 50 rats and 2 beavers over 30 beaver and 4 rats!

Caught two rats, rat and mink and two beaver small ones but two in 330s but never rat and beaver combo. Awesome you are out there wacking and stacking Mike. I’m catching a little fur every day. Something addictive about added fur to the pile no matter how cheap.

Well, after blowing about how I only keep a half dozen beaver sets going so I only have a couple to take care of at once, yesterday I snagged 5 out of six. All but one were quite big. At least I only got 38 rats...
