My wife and I are still in the "no go zone" because of having it less than 90 days ago.

According to our local expert...you’re only good for 90 days.

According to our local expert...you’re only good for 90 days. They don't know for sure. Antibodies have show to be around for up to 8 months, but they say 90 days to be the safest assumption......... I'm not getting it. I'm young enough to not worry about it. Over 99 percent recover rate says I don't need it. I'm not afraid of death either. Eventually we all die, and when we do, we won't even know it.

Jim You do know who is responsible for pushing and shoving the scientists, drug companies and FDA to get this vaccine to the masses in warp speed don't you? Based on that alone, and your feelings toward that person, don't you think a pass is in order? Or perhaps a public "thank you" to that person?

I will not get the shot I will die before I get the shot it is nothing but pure posion the videos of Joe and the other liberal big wigs is all I need to see they were fake they did not get the shot it was injected into some thing in the nurses hand the one before they stuck them you could see the plunger was all the way down. You can call me crazy but this vaccine will kill you it may be two months 2 years 5 years but it will kill you. If this gets me a vacation I don't care. just my two cents worth.

I might already be immune. Had something with all the symptoms last winter. Been around several people who tested positive. Been almost a year since I was sick.

My job ask us how many would take the vaccine. They ask because so many hospital staff here refused to take it and they thought there would be some available for us. That speaks volumes.

My mom got the first round last week. Me, dad, brothers, wife and kids refuse to get it. We are all young and in good health, except dad, he’s just stubborn lol. I see no reason to subject ourselves to it, especially since our lifestyle really precludes us from spreading it anyways.

You all get one so I won’t have to catch the virus off anybody. It would be nice if it worked like that but it doesn't. It doesn't even stop you from getting the crap... It supposedly just keeps you from being symptomatic. Mike

I might already be immune. Had something with all the symptoms last winter. Been around several people who tested positive. Been almost a year since I was sick. Locally you can get an antibody test to see if you've already had. I think it would be smart that before the vaccine is given, this antibody test should be administered so we're not vaxxing folks that already of the antibodies.

A lot of strange ideas floated on this thread.
Personally I tend to put more credence in what the scientists at the CDC tell us over anti-vaccine conspiracy theories floated around the internet.

Getting Moderna at 10 AM tomorrow. My first dose. A paramedic friend got her first dose of that one about 6 days ago. She isnt real excited for the second round. She got very very sick. Said her arm hurt worse after that shot than she would have believed. Others seem to have no problem. Hope it works out that way for you.

If only 50% of the U.S. population decide to receive the vaccine, what then? what percent of the population needs to take it to stop the spread of the virus. CDC is not sure at this point. Experts do not know what percentage of people would need to get vaccinated to achieve herd immunity to COVID-19. Herd immunity is a term used to describe when enough people have protection—either from previous infection or vaccination—that it is unlikely a virus or bacteria can spread and cause disease. As a result, everyone within the community is protected even if some people don’t have any protection themselves. The percentage of people who need to have protection in order to achieve herd immunity varies by disease.

Not sure how much it'll help, but I drive a school bus for a living,so it can't hurt. Since I'm around a bunch of kids every day,and will soon be 64. Do what you think is best for you and your situation... I'll not fault a man for that. My issue is the near religious zealotry that some seem to have for mandatory vaccination. Mike

I don't know why this link is scrubbed but the video still exists in the "For you Parler users". I'd urge everyone to watch it. I'd love to hear your thoughts. Went through 4 pages and don't recall a single reply from op...maybe he actually did take it! Or, maybe he's insighting insurrection! Well it was only 7 hours between the time he posted and the time you posted. He asked a very general question. Who's getting the vaccine? And if you've been here long enough you know that James sometimes doesn't come back for a day or 2 after posting. He also said he wasn't getting it until the 18th.

No word on when it will be available here. I will definitely get the vaccine, not for myself, but I would not want to be responsible for causing some elderly /compromised persons death by spreading the virus. Them people should not be able to get it anymore since they are being vacinnated first. You will only be jumping the line, if you get it now.

Wife and I both "on the frontline" got our first weeks ago. No issues at all with the first. She got the 2nd last week along with multiple co workers. It literally wiped out the entire squad! Everyone that took it was basically down and out for 2 days. Severe headache, body ache and a high fever. She said she absolutely would not take the 2nd if given the chance over. This was the Pfizer brand. I am scheduled for #2 in less than 2 weeks.

There is no fetal material in either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine
One of the ones they are giving out has it. That is not true Bruce. There are only two vaccines that have been given EUA in the US. Neither is produced with fetal tissue. The Astrazenaca drug, being developed in Britain does use fetal cell lines in production but it is not being distributed here

The U.S. government’s plan to vaccinate most Americans by next summer rests heavily on two COVID-19 shots that U.S. regulators won’t get a chance to rule on until early in 2021.
AstraZeneca Plc and Johnson & Johnson together would provide 150 million to 200 million shots in the first quarter, said Moncef Slaoui, chief scientific officer of Operation Warp Speed. This could immunize 110 million to 150 million people, if the doses are evenly split between J&J’s single-dose vaccine and Astra’s two-dose regimen.
That’s on top of vaccines from Pfizer Inc. and Moderna Inc., from whom the U.S. has ordered enough doses for 100 million people combined.
Subscribe to The Capsule, a daily brief monitoring advances in health care and biopharma, delivered free to your inbox. Slaoui detailed the plan in response to criticism that the U.S. left itself exposed by declining to order more doses from New York-based Pfizer, whose vaccine is likely to be authorized for emergency use in the coming days. At the White House’s vaccine summit Tuesday, Slaoui defended the strategy of spreading bets among vaccine makers relying on different technologies. The goal: Ensure the plan wasn’t hindered by any individual clinical failure, manufacturing delay, or poor execution by management, he said.
“Already with this portfolio, I feel confident that we can cover the U.S. population within the first half of 2021,” Slaoui said at the Milken Institute’s Future of Health summit. Later at the White House meeting, Slaoui specified that every person who wanted a vaccine would get access by June.
The U.S. has an agreement for 100 million doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech SE two-dose vaccine regimen, enough for 50 million people. Both shots are needed to provide full immunity. The New York Times and the Washington Post reported Monday that Pfizer had offered an additional 100 million doses to the U.S., which declined.
Scott Gottlieb, the former Food and Drug Administration chief who now sits on Pfizer’s board, said Tuesday on CNBC that the offer remained

In the end I will probably be forced to take it to keep my job,But I`m not getting it unless that happens. Then they can take that job and shove it. Can you get me a good job up in Maine that`s not going to require it? If so I`ll pack my bags.I hate Pa anymore.

I got the Shingles series earlier this year. Was told that it would make my arm hurt. Neither shot made me sore.
I will take any Covid vaccine that becomes available to me. Not just for my own good but to help protect family, friends and fellow Americans. It used to be the people all pitched in in this country for the common good without any whining. A patriotic act.
Look at the sacrifices Americans made during WWII. Blackouts, food/fuel rationing, buying war bonds, penny drives, volunteerism, etc .etc. As a society we don't look like that much these days.

In 2018 Vanderbiltt University did a study on the 1918 Spanish flu. They found that individuals that lived during that time and are still alive had the antibodies, 90 years later! My mother lived to be 103 and passed a couple years ago but I can never remember her being sick except she was 102 and got pneumonia and we thought she wouldn't make it but she kicked it and kept going. My point here is I don't think they know how long any antibody will last or the medical scientists will not say. My wife tested positive on new years afternoon by Sunday she just presented a cold but Monday she was going down hill fast. Took her to the ER and was diagnosed with phenumonia. They treated her with Bamlamivimab, Thats the drug they gave Trump. Did not have to stay in hospital. She got released yesterday to continue life. We didn't mask up and have been together the whole time. She was coughing, sneezing and we live in the same house, I haven't been sick. I tested negative 6 days after she was tested. So now I have to quarantine for 14 days and I feel good. I am going too get the antibody test before I take the vaccine. I had the Hong Kong flu in 1969 and I was the only one in the family that got it. I was sick! I am hoping that since I had it I have the antibodies from it and that's why I am well now. Time will tell!

I did have a cold about 20 years ago. My wife got a flu shot every year and got the flu every year. They kept telling her if was a different strain when she asked why she still got the flu. She stopped getting a flu shot 3 years ago and has never had the flu since.

Kind of a 5th grade retort. If you don't want to vaccinate I don't think you should be forced to, but can you entertain the possibility of dialogue without the throwing of insults? That is the sunlit path my friend. Oops! Maybe I'm guilty too. LOL

I think the vaccine is a great thing for those that want it, as long as its not mandated for those of us who wont take it. It might be perfectly safe, and the odds are that it is, at least for most people. The problem I have is that the vaccine wont keep you from getting the virus, it will just lesson your symptoms, and you can still spread the virus even after you have been vaccinated. The head of our EMS department sent out an information sheet that said all this just last week. So why take a vaccine for a virus you likely wont even know you have if you do get it? The last I heard 98% of those who get it will have a very mild case, and the vaccine is only 95% effective. They should stop testing tomorrow and this would all be over in a week. Stopping testing won't stop 3-4000 Americans from dying every day from covid.

My wife and I are both past 65. I can't figure out why anyone that age would refuse the vaccine. Did you also refuse the polio vaccine?
Jim Because this one was rushed. This has been being worked on for a few years now. It was developed for the first SARS outbreak and modified for this one. Kind of like the flu vaccine is every year.

I think the vaccine is a great thing for those that want it, as long as its not mandated for those of us who wont take it. It might be perfectly safe, and the odds are that it is, at least for most people. If Fauci was a quack why did Trump choose him to represent his administration as the pandemic expert? You would have thought he was thoroughly vetted.

I'll get the vaccine when I am able too. I don't believe that the companies making the vaccines and the medical personnel giving the vaccine want to harm millions of Americans.
If I caught Covid, chances are that it would not be a serious illness for me, but I don't know that for sure. Likely, more importantly, if I catch Covid, I have to close my business for 14 days and I don't want to do that.
I also believe that being vaccinated will make it less likely for me to spread the virus and I don't want to make any friends, family or customers sick.

Assuming diagnosis are correct, America has not had a great record for counting anything lately.

My daughter got her first dose of the Moderna vaccine a couple days ago. My mother in law, sister in law and niece got theirs 2 weeks ago. No ill effects to this point. I have never been an anti vaccine guy so when available I will get mine as well. I will wait until for a bit as I finished up a bout with covid just before Christmas. I am confident it is safe and have done a little research and realize this vaccine was first developed in 2004 to combat SARS but funding dried up prior to clinicals. I am just thankful the generations before us trusted vaccines. Be a lot of folks with braces fighting Polio if everyone back then subscribed to massive conspiracy theories like today. The research I done on the sars vaccine is the people that took it and then got sars all died.

My daughter in law works at a nursing home here in Down East Maine. A week and a 1/2 ago all of the residents got the vaccine. Last week all of the residents that got the vaccine tested positive (maybe its common). Today my daughter in law has tested positive. She follows the protocol to a tee. Question for those that had the shots. Is there any certification/paper that shows you got the vaccine ? I am figuring its going to be needed to fly international and get into other countries when they open for travel. We got a card from hospital listing dates and batch numbers. CDC also sent a card with vaccines that can be filled out. Not sure why hospital went and made up their own cards. I now have both.

I retired from Pfizer in 2012 (they bought Wyeth, whom I worked for) and if I have to I'll take the Moderna vaccine. Never a Pfizer product. Never, ever. Very Woke political operation with little regard for patients and customers. Money driven and too many zanny managers all boot licking. I was an outcast for sure because my team was woven to the fabric of docs, hospitals, and patients in the middle of our country. The Manhattan headquarters had little time or patience for such things. They were to busy nightclubbing with the WDC elites to care about the patient care aspect. No thanks.
It's no surprise to me Pfizer was "1st to market." No thanks. I'll take my chances with a disease I already had and lived through.
PS> I was among the top 200 of all time in results when I was brought aboard during the acquisition and so somewhere in Manhattan is a bronze bust of me and 211 others who Pfizer honored as "best of the best" in their 120 year history. I didn't really care. I just did my job. It drove my bosses and their bosses nuts to think someone other than them, in their midst, was recognized for such a thing as real world results. Their boot licking didn't get them a bronze bust. I was not popular because I worked hard and managed a team that led the nation in the states of SD, ND, IA, NE, KS, and parts of MO. They literally despised that portion of our country. Upper management and me battled often. They were clueless how the real world works.
Blessings, Mark

According to Fauci (and other epidemiologists) our best path forward to end this nightmare is for enough of the citizenry to get vaccinated so that herd immunity kicks in and we can get back to some semblance of what we call normal. We can open up again for business.
Or we can just wait until most everybody has caught it (and our death toll goes over the million mark) and herd immunity maybe starts to kick in. That would be nature's way... I will admit. Might take a long time to do it nature's way. How much longer can businesses survive being shut down? I'm very thankful to live in a state with a governor that has her head on straight. We have some restrictions, but businesses are open. Schools are open. And the sky has not fallen. Whoda thunk it.

I think moderna has had the highest rate of side effects for those getting the vaccine. So high that you'll be lucky to not get side effects

Seems to me that the democrats say everyone is going to die if we dont shut the country down and republicans say to open everything up and all will be well. Im sure the truth lies somewhere in the middle. Too bad this has been politicized and the truth has been hidden. I will use my own observations and make a decision on what I feel is the best for me and my family. You do the same...

By definition, are either of these truly a Vaccine ? Seems to me like they are some kind of a Pre-Therapeutic. Pfizer is basically a pretherapeuric. Moderna is supposed to prevent infection. I think the J&J one is also a prevent infection one based on reports. Haven't heard anything lately about Astrazenica

I lived through the pandemic and am approaching one year out.
I don't plan on taking the vaccine but only because I'm not worried about my outcome. I already had Covid so I'll trust my antibodies to protect me against the disease that is .04-.06% lethal to humankind.
Risk - benefits type of situation = modern medicine. I'm with you totally on this as I believe the wife and I already had it in November of 2019

My mom is in a nursing home and got the first shot last week. Dad called last night and said mom has tested positive for the virus. I guess, she won't need the follow-up shot. Wow

Because of transport and storage issues the Moderna vaccine is the one they sent up here. We were told it does NOT prevent you from getting the virus, it only lessons symptoms. Most people have only mild symptoms anyway so I dont see what the vaccine is going to do.

I've never had a flu shot and, until January a year ago, never had the flu. Last January a virus ran through my whole family. I got it and it turned into bronchitis. It took me three days to get back to work and a week to fully recover.
I won't be getting any Covid vaccination.
Eh...wot?

Anyone following the VAERS data from the CDC? The Covid “vaccine” seems to have a lot more potential side-effects than the more common flu vaccine.

How much do those shots cost? I might be interested if the price is right!

Does anyone know how long the vaccine will give immunity to the virus?

Jim Good question. However, I don’t know how the “experts” would know since there hasn’t been much time for research on it.

Jim It doesn't give you immunity. Only suppose to make it not so severe when you get it.
