Just got some new 550s and they don’t look like they have oil on them. Do I need to boil?

I just fill up a tub with enough water to cover them and add blue Dawn liquid soap. Let’em sit for about 30 minutes and take out and spray off.

Jim, I've found the easiest for me is to take them to a carwash, spend a few quarters with the hottest, soapiest water, then rinse. Viola...grease gone.

I hate to hijack, but on rubber jaws do you remove the rubber before paint/dye?

Not the ones they are comin out with these days lol. My aunt has one that you don’t even have to rinse dishes before you put em in. It’s awesome.

Now back to the question, I’d just do as wanna be said. Then by next season they’ll have a nice coat of rust and you can dye them then.

Mine go straight from the box into the boiling trap dye pot.

Easy peasy

I'd say just the opposite-the greatest invention ever. No time spent standing at the sink, and they are great for removing oil from new traps!
