Once I'm on location, with the required set making equipment about 1 min. Set the pole up, put the driver on it and pound it in. Slip the adjustable loop end of my snare over the pole, open the loop to the proper size, poke the end of the support wire in the wammy and bend it into position, verify height with my driver and get out. Takes longer to type that set. smile

Depends on the set. A baited cubby or an under ice snare set for beaver, I'm all over the map time-wise, you could say terrible. I will add that I've cut my time in half with the rat traps in a weasel box. I'm down to about fifteen minutes on those. As one of my brothers was wont to say...I'm not very good, but I'm slow.

Might turn into,
Here lies the fastest gun in the West because he could not hit anything. LOL better to do it right before you do it fast.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!

Never timed it, but usually it takes me longer to pick the spot than it does to make the set. From setting my pack down to picking it back up I’d say 2 minutes tops. Bedding is what takes the longest, but I’ve found that digging the bed about 1.5 times bigger than needed and then sifting half the dirt back in and pressing the trap into the soft, sifted dirt makes it a lot faster. The whole bedding process takes less than 30 seconds that way, and it makes for a rock solid trap every time.

But, never rush your sets. I got my time down just by punching in hundreds of them. Figured out how to save five seconds here, ten there, over the course of ten years to get down to 2 minutes. Organization and consistency is the key.

This can be practiced well before trapping season. I learned a new set one year at a heritage days festival and must have made it 100 times the following week. lol
