I talked to a Fur buyer yesterday and he said the sale has a huge amount of fur. Don't expect to see results posted for several days. The boys are really going to be busy.

I expect they are still checking in fur. Maybe dine for the day but they were probably very busy. Bids aren’t due until 10 AM Sunday so it will be awhile.

I hope the coyote buyers brought extra help. Takes a lot of time to go through that many pelts. LOL

Who is there for buyers?

That is a LOT of coyotes!!! How on earth do they keep the lots straight and know which pelts belong to which sellers? Looks like one big pile to me.

Look close and you will see wire dividers in between lots. Each coyote is also marked with the lot it belongs to. Buyers know how many coyotes are in each lot so know how many to look for.

Thank you. When I enlarge the picture, I can see the wire dividers. How do you mark the pelts so you know which is which? I know Colorado staples a paper lot number on the nose. Oregon uses different colored tags and a tagging gun.

Have run fur sales myself, I’m just curious how different groups handle different situations.

I belong to the Intermountain Furharvesters and We use a tagging gun and I am pretty sure the ITA does the same. We used to use a permanent marker on a paw but a buyer didn't like that so we went to a gun.

Colorado uses an ear tag that displays lot number, specie, and number of pelts in that lot. Each tag also has a bar code with all of the information so at check out each piece is scanned and accounted for. There is also a tag on each hanger that displays the same corresponding information.
