Hats off to Groeny for buying all 16 of the squirrel tails I had in my freezer. 25 cents a piece. I didn't have any fox squirrel tails though. I can't figure out where all the fox squirrels in my county have disappeared to the past several years...strange.

I comb them out nice and freeze them flat.

Surprised he didn't tell you 3 were no value and then offer to dispose of them for ya.

So Are you stripping the tails ( removing the tailbone) or just chopping the tails off and selling them ? 25 cents aint bad either way for something that normally gets tossed out by most folks. I knew mepps out of Antigo buys them but never knew that groenwald did as well. Thats Interesting.

I've always sold to 'Sheldon's Inc. , home of Mepps lures.
I take the 'trade for double the cash value', then give the lures away to friends. . .and you'd be surprised just how many friends you have when you're giving away Mepps lures ! grin

Mepps Aglia in the small size have taken many many creek trout for me. Almost as good as a salted minnow.

you're only allowed so many sunrises... I aim to see every one of them!

I leave the bone in. I chop the tails off with a knife or wire cutter.

We save them every other winter, and send them to Sheldon's for Mepp's lures. We always take the trade, and they gave us .49 a tail last time, Plus they doubled our shipping. We ended up with well over 300.00 worth of spinners to give away to the neighborhood kids. Even when they are basically free, it doesn't make you feel one bit better when you lose a 6-7 dollar spinner on a snag.
