A friend of mine runs up near Nelchina had a wolf and trap stolen.

His words............I caught a wolf a mile away from where this picture was taken on my trail camera. It's on the South end of Old Man lake off the Lake louise Road. Fresh snow Thursday night and I ran my line on Saturday. This guy was the who took it and my trap.

This is the person of interest, if you have any info please PM me. It has been reported to the Troopers as well.

Can you get his license tag number from that photo. It looks like its there and that would be good if it was. Might be the same person that stole the wolverine a while back! GOOD LUCK

Ten knuckles of justice before the law gets him would be fine by me. That is just plain rotten of a person to do such a thing.

Oh Snap, he is hoping the Troopers can digitally enhance it.

mad-mike, that would be short term punishment, the thought of a hefty fine, loss of machine and perhaps his vehical, gun, trailer, and loss of lisc sounds so much more appealing for that low life.

Apparently he stayed at the one lodge up there and they got all kinds of video footage of him with the wolf hide and a caribou. Just a matter of time before he gets hammered.

That would be nice.

I had said that knuckles would hopefully come before the law dogs.
Dirt deserves to be treated as such.

I'm thinking rounds instead of knuckles. Unfortunately the troopers have already been called. You know they never do anything to thieves, at most a slap on the wrist. But they'll throw the book at you if you administer justice on your own.

It's not the troopers that are the problem it's the prosecutors. I know my local trooper would be on this guy day & night if given a chance.

I sure hope you get em. I am out that direction as well and I had a lynx stolen recently. Wonder if it's the same guy. I can't. believe people would do that. I have no idea why people would even do that. How could you even take any pride in an animal you didn't even trap. It's so illogical and makes no sense to me. On another note, I am having a great year on cats. Picked up seven cats this weekend.

Hey HFT, what lodge? We can put the word out at Lake Louise Lodge. Insane how much theft is going on by supposedly “hunters”. This makes the 2 wolf I know about, a wolverine, I had a 330 out of a otter set stolen and also a elder had his brand new wood splitter taken by a caribou hunter. They got a pic of him as well, bald guy in a burgundy F250. Wish they would shut the hunt down or have the herd move on. The caribou seem to be curious of hanging wings. Got them stomping my cubbys and also setting trail sets off..

OP, did you get any hair, blood or other bio samples from the trap site? If not it might not be a bad idea to go back and collect some. If the troopers are really interested in going after this guy they sure wouldn't have any excuses not to if they can match your samples to the skin.

I wouldn't make this too pubic at this time, you don't want the guy catching wind of it and disposing of the skin (evidence) before the Troopers get to him.

Trailblazersteve, he was at that lodge 330pm Saturday, they have video and he was at the rental place down the road from them at 130pm Saturday. From what my friend says after talking to the people at those two locations he is a younger guy and native.

waggler, I asked the same question, he did not but plans on heading back out there to find some. His call on making it public and that is exactly the route he is taking, it is posted in every crime group, that sled is very distinctive, just a matter of time.

If I thought it would do any good I would report the lynx that was stolen from my lynx cubby. Unfortunately I have no evidence to offer so I'm not sure it would result in catching the thief. If you guys have any helpful suggestions let me know. Basically I just pulled that set off my line so it doesn't happen again.

Bushwack Jack, it is always important to report a theft, even if there is no evidence it makes the troopers aware and if you get the word out other trappers will be aware. They gotta get it sealed and questions get asked. Not saying anything will come of it but there is always that chance that it will.
