Some of them were using the floor, Patrice suggested they might like privacy. And she showed her boxs with curtains.

So I added some privacy.

They don't lay× on the floor at all now. grin

The daily dozen! Nothing wrong with that. Our girls just finished their molt and are back to producing an egg each every other day. About a month ago we had to buy a dozen eggs for the first time in 18 months!

I got those 25 brown sex- link clicks late this year they started to lay smaller eggs but man they are really laying now. Still have a few older birds but they are laying less now then they did before.

The smaller eggs have a high number of double yolks 2 out of 3 today were doubles. Good layers but dumb as they can be, every night I have to go out and pick up the stragglers that are to stupid to go back to the coop before dark.

We were 2 for a lot today. I don't have any of my chickens under light and they are laying poorly. I'm not setting chicken eggs right now, so I don't want to light them up, but I would like to get a few more eggs. 2 serama eggs just about equals 1 large egg. We had pork grits and scrambled eggs for supper and had to use store bought eggs.

My coturnix quail are under light and are laying poorly. Out of around 300 hens we will only get around 60 eggs today. That's mostly due to temperature.

Keith

My coop has 2 red 175 watt heat bulbs... its insulated...but today it was only 30° in there

I dont have lights on xcept the red ones low.

But my birds are 8 months or 9 so they'll lay better than ours 2 yr birds

I run a red 250wt heat lamp in a insulated coop but the base give off some white light that I think helps.
