I have a place to trap some beaver, the water is shallow at the edge and not deep enough for drowner. Was wondering if anyone has used a float for beaver with any success? I saw the idea on youtube but it looked to me like they were struggling with that idea. Is there any good plans for a float? Would like some positive input on this matter, Thanks

Set up a drowning wire to the deepest water with a short chain on the trap and set for a front leg catch.

I've used floats quite successfully.

How deep Is It?
You can drown a beaver In 2' of water if you target a front foot and add some weight to your trap.

I've caught beaver all the time on muskrat floats using 1 1/2 B&L long springs, and wired off good.
All were caught in the spring season, apples and rat gland lure for attractant. Some were quite large, all still alive.
They didn't seem to fight it much.
