Missouri fur prices. Held a few back to get tanned but sold the rest. Fur buyer came to my house along with about a dozen more trappers selling their fur. Will the pay off this year cover gas and expenses? No but it gets me off the couch and away from the ball and chain. Gave the check to my son in law who I'm getting started in the trapping game. He was running traps before he went to work and I don't have to do that anymore. He loves it and can run me in the ground. Anybody trapping to make a profit this year has got a rough row to hoe. But if you didn't realize that after the fur prices the last couple years you ain't right. Did not finish any of the fur this year.
Now it's on to trapping bounty beaver which will produce a profit and maybe catch some mink and rats along the way. [Linked Image]

Peterman fur out of Waubleou mo. Said he would pay 40.00$ bucks top for finished coyotes in our area. 30.00$ bucks tops for green skint. Was glad I didn't have to take them anywhere to sell and most of the trappers were glad he stopped in this area.

Thanks for the update it looks like you need to catch more coyote and beaver in your otter, coon, and cat sets

Those are terrible prices, but $12 for otter is awful.

Trouble is, l never made a coon, cat, or otter set. They kept clogging up my coyote and beaver sets. cry
These kind of prices weed out the trapping for profit guys and trapping for fun guys. The bad thing is it probably ain't gonna get any better for awhile if ever.

It is always to have fun things to do. But when it cost around $.50 cents a mile to drive a trunk it is hard to keep a smile on your face. LOL

WT glad you got your fur sold. I agree it ain’t about the money, it’s about the time trapping and spending it outdoors with my dad, my wife and my kids.

Yall think 35 a cat isn't equally bad?

I used to get 70 for a Kansas cat with a rabbit back and a bridge from basically its chest plate to its testicles before Christmas not that long ago. The vast majority were sold in the round b/c taxis got to liking big frames better than the fur as they could airbrush the spots in

Like I said, if you trapped the last couple years you had to realized that fur prices sucked. That you may not be able to find someone to buy your coons and so forth. And it doesn't look to get better in the neer future. We don't have the premium fur compared to other areas of the country but we don't have the worst either. I m still gonna trap till they out law it or l can't go anymore. Used this year to try and target certain animals and try new things to me. Some worked and some didn't. But I still enjoyed it, except the part of going swimming off a beaver dam. Hope everyone gets 100$ for coyotes, 20$ for coons, and 300$ for cats. But if you don't, remember the good times and enjoy the chase.

I guess the real question would be what part of Missouri you were trapping. The topic says North Central however the buyer is from just north of I-44. There’s a lot of difference in fur quality from North Missouri to North Central Missouri, mid Missouri and so on. Depending on location prices vary rather the market is good or bad.
You can’t compare Minnesota fur with Iowa or Missouri the quality is completely different grade of fur.

The other issue is we simply don’t have a lot of buyers left in Missouri and like someone stated traveling to sell your goods is an expense.

IMO

Peterman is paying as good as anyone else far as I can tell, better than some. You can’t give a coon to some of our local buyers. I sold finished coyotes to Miller. His top on put-up coyotes was $40. Half of what I took went in the $30 pile. Smallest pile (3 I think) went for $20. Averaged in the $30 range.

I trap for fun. I skin 'em for the money!

Though I've never trapped cats, that does seem a real low ball price. I mentioned otter because I remember averaging over $100 for 4 otter.
