Wonder if fuel milage will factor into the milage tax. Seems like it would be an incentive to buy a bigger truck if the gas tax is gone and I'd pay the same amount as a smart car or electric one.

Another great economy killer. I wonder if any of them care that it’s a 80 mile round trip for us to Walmart or 140 to Home Depot. I know they don’t but had to ask

Electric cars are powered by external combustion engines. The smoke just comes out of a big stack instead of individual exhausts on cars with an internal combustion engine. Or they will have to expand Nuclear power stations to fill the needs if those things get real popular. But then the tree huggers heads would explode. There is no way they could meet the demand with their idea of wind and solar power. Utopia pipe dreams.

Anyone thinking they will ever drop a tax like a fuel tax hasn't paid attention. The mileage tax will be added on not to replace the taxes per gallon.

They’ll figure it out when they go to the market and get the food that was trucked in with the additional tax added to the delivery. lol

Has to be a lot of lost tax revenue lost to electric car use. Mileage tax on electric/hybrid cars and gas tax for the rest. Maybe electrics would be less attractive if buyer saw the tax cost added in.

You are just complaining because you will need longer cords for your car to get up and over and around those Tennessee hills, lol.

Stop shopping at Wal-Mart. That's part of the problem in America.

I read that in either Oregon or Washington, they already are doing the mileage tax in some form. How they do it, as I recall; is that they have some sort of GPS computer system installed in the vehicle/ It tells the State DOT what roads the vehicle has driven on and how many miles per road. Now picture getting a separate Mileage bill each Month from the State, and every Town, City, Village , AND County you have driven through..

Oh, the TAX MONEY THEY COULD RAISE FROM THAT !!

GPS tracker would be quite an invasion of privacy. Don't see how that could ever fly. Maybe a report.of vehicle miles like claiming mileage for a business but to track you, I don't think so.

Silly! They will mount wind generators on those electric cars and when they drive around they will generate all the power they need.
