Howdy everyone, hope you all had a good Christmas and New Years. I've had pretty good luck so far this cat season and thought I'd put up some pics. Got 5 so far, started off really good and grabbed 3 right away and then had a slow couple weeks until just the other day! I've got 2 different lines out and caught one day before yesterday and then another one yesterday. If you guys have pictures to share I love seeing them, especially the cat pics.
This cat I wasn't able to take a pic of in the trap, but was a pretty good cat, a young tom. The picture doesn't show his belly very good but he put up nicely. We've had a lot of foggy and really cold days this year. And this day happened to be one of the coldest. Don't know what the low was but the warmest it got all day was -10F according to my truck.
This cat was a lot of fun to catch, broke my dry spell which was awesome. Seems like every year I catch one cat that I just didn't expect. Not a bad location or set by any means, just one of those ones that I wouldn't have guessed. A good size female, and now that I've got her I'm hoping there may be a tom moving through the area that I can grab too. Dad was with me so that was great, and on top of that it was actually sunny out and not too cold.
Grabbed this one yesterday, first set of the day which is always great. Fresh snow on the ground so couldn't see tracks but knew that there was a big cat and a small cat running the same area. This was the big one and I'm glad I got him first. Really big tom, and was probably the most aggressive cat I've ever dealt with. The small one was running tight loops and I think was a female so catching this guy first meant I could pull the set and leave her in the area. As much as I love catching cats, I want to make sure the populations stay strong and that they will be good spots for future years.
And here's all the cats so far, 3 finished, one off the stretcher airing out, and one on the stretcher is the big tom from yesterday. Really happy with what I've got so far and can't wait to get more. Still got at least 3 spots in mind that should produce, so we will see what happens. Good luck out there guys!
