That is a big one ! I would say I probably get close to around 1/2 acre if you add all the beds together. I am going to do 1/2 acre of pumpkins for selling as well this year.

I have always planted all sweet corn at the same time. Selecting different varieties can easily yield a 4 week harvest.

I'm probably adding a couple 4x8 experimental beds. Think I'm gonna try a couple muscadine vines in with my main garden which is about 20x25. My garden is more for snacking than main food source.

I am planning to cut my grocery bill down by 90% or better so the garden is going to get bigger and What I can't can or preserve in other ways I'll give away to folks that need it.

My usual acre then going to put in some raised beds this year. Going to cut back on the sweet corn though.

Bigger than I can easily handle. At the house the garden is about 30 by 50 and the one at the folks place is about 40 by 40. Then my parents have one we help with too. That one must be 50 by 100.

To quote president trump, it’s gonna be yuuuge, the biggest, the best garden ever, we’re gonna produce more tomato’s than China, best garden ever.
I’m planning for 15 slicing/canning tomato and 15 cherry tomato plants, 15 sweet pepper and 15 hot pepper plants, 15-20 beans, 50’ row of radishes, 50’ row of salad greens, 4 each watermelon, honeydew, and cantaloupe, 2 pumpkin, 10 cucumbers, and then whatever else my kids decide they would like to grow.

Farmall cub with cultivators. I do all my sweet corn and bean planting with a John Deere 7000 planter that had been cut down to a two row planter.

It’s nothin to go through 25 or 30 radishes a day in our house, especially when it’s hot outside and the radishes are cold and crisp.....mmmm can’t wait!

How do y'all handle weed control? I'm not much on chemicals. So usually try hand weeding but just to time consuming. Thinking about trying the rolls of biodegradable paper this year Lots and lots of mulch, hand weed any that pop up through. I really dislike any sort of chemical. I blame agricultural chemicals for the fact that many of the kids I grew up with, me included, having extremely rare stomach/digestive diseases. I know 3 people who grew up with me that have a form of gastroparesis that will eventually kill them, several others with less severe digestive issues, and mine they can’t even diagnose. So I flat refuse to use chemicals of any kind in my garden.

Thinking about trying the rolls of biodegradable paper this year tiller/mini tiller....a hoe...and a mulching mower. I found a few years ago some of my garden does just as well if I don't till. Just dig a shovel wide area, plant whatever, and leave the width of my mower between rows. Don't have to tend with muddy rows, and way easy to run the mower down between the rows.

I grow 2 gardens each about 50 by 100. Mainly so I can rotate Tomatoes around and not get too much blight. But going to build a steel barn this year about 24 by 32 that may wipe out 1 garden. I have some black soil, bottom land that needs grubbed out to replace the 1 garden, but that will take a season to do. I am on a lake so I have to be careful when I turn new ground.

I need to prune a couple apple trees. Going to try and propagate a couple from the cuttings. NOT turning the hobbies into a job, been there.
If smart I'd find more local folks to trade with. Most gardeners have extras.
If only we could produce canning seals..

Last year’s start. Extended it once for 300 strawberry plants, after pic. Extended it for melons another 50’, but didn’t take pics. Started prepping an additional 30’ for larger melon patch this year. Plus constructing a small greenhouse to get started a little earlier. No fruit trees, but we trade harvests with an orchard. Neighbors and friends purchase all we don’t can or eat. The location was an old pasture, hadn’t been used in 35 years. Had to clear trees, but the top soil is over 12”. You can turn the soil by hand, unbelievably rich.

I’m planning to sell whatever my family doesn’t need at the farmers market, if I can ever get ahold of the market manager to buy a booth and find out what certs I need to get. They don’t seem to like returning messages though. If I can get my seed starting setup going in time I might sell vegetable starts as well. Next year hopefully I’ll have a greenhouse up, planning to start 15,000 landscaping trees next summer to supplement income 3-5 years from now. I’d like to eventually make a full time living from my nursery between seedlings, trees, perennial and annual flowers. Someday.
