Seriously though, any chance that fact will rekindle the fur industry? If these people really believe climate change is going to wipe out the earth in 12 years and will stop at nothing to prevent that, could they look past the horrors of trapping cute little animals to save the world?
Some of these people would eat their own crap if someone told them it reduced their carbon footprint.

Greta would look good in fur! hey she was right that everyone at that climate meeting was just paying lip service to reducing they have no intention of giving up their second homes, luxury cars ,boats , or moving the thermostat more than a degree. just think had we gone to sail boats only crossing the ocean covid might have stayed in china I am all for reducing waste , but I don't need a chainsaw that saves a pint a year , but burns up lean and needs replacing. my saw could guzzle gas and still be saving major gallons. wood took me from 750 gallons of #2 to 200 a year 550 gallons of #2 us saved by the burning of about 7 gallons of gas.

The Renewable Resource argument is valid though, because it is true. It should make sense to those who are open to things that can actually help.

Green, Your logic sounds like a liberal to me. You saved #2 fuel by burning wood ignoring the carbon footprint of the wood burned. It's like driving an electric car and pretending you are not using any energy.

you are ignoring the fact that burning wood is carbon neutral.

Not quite. Wood produces the same carbon by the decomposition process over a longer period of time as it does being burned. Processing and heating with firewood, if done in an environmentally friendly manner also eliminates the need for a fuel guzzling delivery truck travelling out to the country on a regular basis. Agreed. Also, wood ashes are a substitute for lime in a garden.

That's my neighbor. He spends ridiculous amounts of time driving all over the county scrounging for free wood so he can save a few bucks running his heat pump each year. He doesn't do this for environmental reasons, but because he thinks its saving him money. He thinks free wood = free heat. If only he had the wits to factor in everything he spends on chainsaws, gasoline, wear and tear on his truck, and all his time, he would realize that he has the most expensive heating system in the neighborhood.
