I bought the Lure and bait making DVD with Clint Locklear, from F&T , some time back. The DVD was suppose to tell how to fire up castors, and make them sweeter. The disappointment came when I discovered that the disc nr 2 was blanc. tried different players, but there is noting on the disc. Did send a mail to F&T, but no help there. Did also order a bottle of ambrette musk, but it didn't smell nothing? Is this stuff diluted crap? Broblem is that I live in Norway. Shipping is expensive. Anyone ho cud give me a tip on the castor madder?

Soaking castors in red wine was the tip. To every gallon of wine add 4 to 6 ounces of pure grain alcohol. Put full whole castors in a gallon jar or 5 gallon bucket, depending on how much castors you have, and cover with wine/alcohol mixture. Let sit for a minimum of 6 months - a year is better. Then drain off liquid and grind the castors for use.

Thank you, beezmador smile I will give it a try when I get my hands on some castors in spring.

So what do you do with the wine mixture you drain off? It should have a use also. It will have a Castor smell to it.

Wish I had more time to trap....

Not sure - he didn't elaborate beyond that in the dvd and I haven't tried it personally yet, but you have a good point.

I have 2 gallon jars of that stuff soaking since 2012. I have used the drained off wine for coon trapping in dirt hole or a little shot in a DP during late season.
