I'm surprised nobody mentioned Sundance,WY. I'm with Law Dog about WY. Huelett,WY is another small town away from the grind.

Been trying to get a elk tag inside the State park I have 25 years of points for archery and 30 for rifle I am still waiting. Outside the Park it might take 10-15 years for a tag then if you draw you have to wait 10 years to even apply again. You can draw a cow tag easier but a bull tag is a real prize here.

I never said I couldn't stand the Sturgis crowd, I just want to get a feel for the area 11/12 months of the year and not pay inflated prices for a recon visit. I'm still young enough to enjoy an occasional throw-down party.

Thanks for all the recommendations, I'll do some map and internet research and narrow down our agenda.

Wyoming is definitely on the list, just breaking the research in to manageable chunks. We'll visit my buddy in Casper during this trip just to see it.

Call me if you get that park tag. I call the park home.

There are a lot of great small towns in the whole eastern part of WY.
