I was reading on this subject last week.

I am moving to Ky. from Il. and they say I will be taking a step backwards. I don't know how they figure those things, but they are full of !!!!

I can not think of any reason KY. would be worse than this hole.

Funny NY ranks 49th, but quality of life ranks 17th. I believe that to be true, despite all of its taxes and political ineptness , NY is a beautiful state with many diverse landscapes.

No way I'm retiring to North Dakota. Looks like where I'm at is near the top, but the winters are gonna send me south starting in about 5 years.

Squash, I spent the first 53 years of my life in NY, and have an old college room mate that live in Osecola (close to you?)

People that have never been in NY don't have any idea of the outdoor possibilities available.

But, in the famous words of an ex fellow worker (who moved to Florida after retiring).

Other than the crappy weather, high unemployment, and high taxes, what's not to like. One does have to disregard some other things, like NYC.

That SW corner where Turtle dale lives is sure nice.

People seem to not consider what goes into moving elsewhere to retire. Moving involves a lot of work, expense, stress, anxiety, and takes a lot of time.

Plus, the grass is not always greener on the other side. Are our lives perfect where we live? No, but if we relocate we will still have most of the same stress in our lives.

Ohio is not in the 10 best or worst and I agree.

If it wasn't for the politics Illinois would be a great place to live. Southern Il is beautiful, flat lands and hilly timbered lands. Our trapping/hunting laws are fair IMO, and we have some very good lakes to catch all sorts of fish. Along the river bottoms we have some of the best crop fields in the nation. So many good things here, but all wasted.

Like you folks in NY, the big city/cities ruin the entire state. Chi town is a pit of the devil himself.

I have lived here 50+ years of my 64 yrs. Want to stay really, but they have beat me. I will not live here any longer than a few more months.

New Jersey is number 50
Oh the pain, the pain
But on the bright side
When DC becomes a state
New Jersey will be number 51

I moved here after living in Chicago it was the best move of my life I ever made I have NEVER regretted it, until you have made that move know this heck not only greener but the greenest it has ever been. LOL

My buddy just moved to MO he will never be happier then he is today just a fact, if you stay that is your choice but better is out there. Most folks are anchored to where they don’t want to live be it family or money that holds them back.

Delaware is a terrible place to retire. I don’t know where they get their information. We are full.

Well y’all can come because you’re not going to try and make us even more like the terribly high taxed commie states you moved from.

Depends on how old you are when you retire.

Any Liberal run state. California has to be one of the worst.
