My only point izzzzzzzz...............electric Cahs just won't fit into my world of big mountains and horses.... just think of the oil, fuel and power it takes to make the electric stuff anyway.
A very small electric car I'm sure does well in very specific ways-like in the cities ....but not in my world.
I will need two wives !! One will cook rabbits for me and the other one.................will have lead soled shoes to drive some muscle cah from New England
Now that's an American Dream!

Bob you mention "they" have been working on the "change for decades and still it's not viable, I'd venture a guess its not for quite a few decades more,
I'm not afraid of change and do welcome less cost for the people to live, however the cars if you have paid any attention to the cost far out weight the regular normal persons wages for a whole year or more, until that changes they are going to use gas vehicles,
There are many problems to overcome yet now that the viability of making an electric car has been thought thru, making a the car go from one place to another comfortably and safely in all weather is a stout obstacle. let alone a carrier of freight and products.
I would venture a guess there needs to be a different power source which lasts longer and is much easier to make before any of this happens. Attaining that is no in research but costs once again over whelm progress.
It probably will come when we all are gone and probably even when our children are grown up as we are now. If the world is still here then !!
Sorry if my opinions or replies offend you, they are not meant to !

Electric cars will never be a viable source for transportation to any great extent. It's not going to be the way except for a very small niche like city dwellers. If people were serious about getting away from oil, the way to go would be hydrogen. Now that is an inexhaustible resource that can replace gas a probably even diesel. It could also be done in relatively short order. However, like most things, the powers that be do not want real solutions.

Oooooo I think you are waaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy wrong. I think EV will be a big deal in the not too distant future. There really are no catalysts for fossil fuel vehicles. Between government and technology EV is the wave of the future. The current penetration rate of ev's is tiny but growing rapidly. Can you imagine a jump from 2% to 5% of EV acceptance ? Get on board !!

I've been an EV sceptic from day one , mostly because of government subsidies and lack luster performance/ reliability
My youngest son (16 ) has been following Tesla and has opened my eyes a bit to some very impressive performance numbers I never imagined an electric motor could produce . I see the major auto manufacturers are scrambling to catch up with Tesla
I'll stay old school though with big gas guzzling trucks

Electric propulsion technology is used in high speed rail .Extremely fast speeds and awesome accelleration. Europe and Japan have high speed rail networks.China recently built an 8000 mile high speed rail network.Electric propulsion is definitely the future.North America is sadly being left behind.

Electric vehicles are completely viable. Have been for fourtyish years. The limit has always been battery technology. When battery’s catch up with control and motor tech it will happen. Slowly and in populated areas first but it will happen.

As far as I'm concerned, the whole thing is an appeasement for aoc and her mental midgets. I bought a new hyndea (korean car, however it is spelled) electric car for the wife to drive the last few years before she retired. What a nightmare! That ting spent months in. the shop, luckly under warranty, and they never got it straightened out. They are going to have to get their act togethera heck of a lot more than they have now, to ever make a pipe dream like this fly. Hybreds are somewhat perfected, but total electric is flat out a pipe dream, especially in the west or north country.
YOU CAN IGNORE REALITY, BUT YOU CANNOT IGNORE THE CONSEQUENCES OF IGNORING REALITY.

And 40 years ago you’d have said there’s no way that 99% of the population would be walking around with personal supercomputers in our pockets today. Technology advances exponentially each year. I’m amazed by what the scientific world has achieved even in just my lifetime. Heck just in the last 15 years. I’m old enough to remember when the first phones came out that you could take pictures with, and then surf the internet. I remember the original Oregon trail game on the giant desktop computer. Look at how far we’ve come in just 30 years, you can’t seriously think that in 30 more electric cars won’t be mainstream.
