Since we are talking about sights today I had a question. I want to make a few open sights more visible, changing the sights is not an option at the moment. Ultra white hobby paint and artist brush is the best I can come up with so far, any other options?

yep, I use chartreuse or white hobby paint.

I was having issues with the silver blade front sight on my flintlock... Some of the wife's white nail polish helped.

Not a different solution than what you listed but I didn't have to buy anything.

Slam Dance green or yellow would show up really well against just about any backdrop you’d encounter.

I used white out. Comes off fairly easy when you want.

Just a suggestion for the applicator. I use a single strand of fine wire instead of the hair in a brush. The stiffness of the wire makes it much easier to break the surface tension of the paint and get it to stick where you want it.

have used white out, my twenties I didn't need any, the last couple of years I have hard time seeing the sights. I was more accurate with iron sights in my younger years. now I favor low powered scopes

I used to use glow paint made for fishing lures

I have it on all my iron sights.Once I get a couple coats on and dried,,I put a couple coats of clear nail polish over it.Havent had to re-do any yet.

If you carefully paint a thin vertical stripe in the center of the blade, you will avoid "white out". If a guy feels the need to paint the front site, he probably isn't able to focus at that distance anymore. A fully painted front blade site will look like a big blob of white which makes seeing the rear dovetail difficult.

i put yellow paint on the front sight of my 357 revolver back in the early 80's when i bought it. can see it pretty good still today. i used model paint out of those little square glass jars you used to get. its enamel paint. made by testers i think

The glow paint I tried years ago wasn't very helpful, Fluorescent orange was pretty good and I used that till I switched to a Williams firesite front bead... That's about the best you can do.

I got the 'glow on' yesterday put it on a revolver sights last evening. Slept in my sleeping bag all night, woke up this morning and was stirring around in the pitch dark in my bag........look down and something is glowing on my hand. I had spilled a drop of that stuff on my hand...all night in the dark bag and it was still glowing.

^plan to do that, it says 24 hours to cure so it will take a few days to get one done and coated. I plan to do one and see how I like it. The two colors may be how I go.....in very dark it would help to get proper alignment.
