Look up Tom Frye Remington exhibition shooter. He set a world record shooting at hand thrown wooden blocks-100,000 of them with several Remington Nylon 66 rifles.

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I agree, pretty much overlooked but a heck of a rifle. And they shoot S-L-LR I got my first one in the late 60's as a kid, and we still own and use a couple of them. Hard to believe they bring 300.00 + now a days. Totally agree. Got 1 for Christmas back in 1964. Believe they could be bought for $19 on sale. Learned to shoot, safe gun.

I like my savage rascal. It’s compact and weighs 2.5 pounds. I'll second the Rascal. And for the guys that like the Cricket, the Rascal is more user friendly as it cocks on operating the bolt plus I love the apeture rear sight. Carry it everyday on the line and never any problem since I got it several years ago.

Hard to believe they bring 300.00 + now a days. I have an old Rem. 550-1 semi auto rifle .22. Shoots shorts,,longs and long rifles.Takes 15 rounds in the tube feed. You can put shorts,,longs and long rifles in the tube all at the same time and it will cycle them all out flawlessly. But for trapping I like my old Ruger Single Six .22 revolver.

For a trapline rifle it’s hard to beat a rascal or a cricket. Cheap, reliable, short, and light. I prefer to carry my revolver though for the trapline

I had a near miss accident once as a kid, which by coincidence involved a Nylon 66. First time I had ever held or fired an autoloader. I had only fired bolt or pump guns. After one shot with the 66.......was holding gun.....safety still off and finger on the trigger.......and while I was talking to the old man who had allowed me to shoot it......it went off again. Entirely my fault but scared us both. Only thing that saved me was it was pointed in a safe direction.
Since then, for this type work, I still prefer a gun that requires action on the part of the shooter to reload. Single shot of any type, or bolt action, pump action, lever action or revolver. The official dispatch gun at the farm was and is a Remington 510 target master single shot. Has put down an awful lot of varmints....90% of them using shorts.
As for pistols, my uncle had a really nice S&W revolver along the lines of a K22, that would shoot any ammo that said .22 on it and was a work of art. He had a matching .38.
Does anyone use a Ruger MK 1 or 2 auto? Remember reading an article in Outdoor Life, Sports Afield or some such mag, that said it was the trappers weapon of choice. That was in the 60's or 70'.

So if the remington nylon was such an indestructable gun, whats the reasoning for the price tag on them nowadays? Would assume if they last and were sold at kmart there should be a bunch around Show me a semi automatic,or about any other gun at this moment, that doesn't have a healthy price tag.
