Had a guy send these photos this morning and wondering what they are from. He said the size is of a pickle jar and distant between is 30 inches. You can see the distant from the foot print beside the tracks. Would like a quick few expert confirmations.

He said fresh tracks in frost this morning on crick. I thought fisher or martin but the stride for fisher I don't believe is right.

Why not ? Those tracks are definitely in the weasel family....

They sure as h--- look like mink to me although the op's size description would be to large for mink.

I'll take your word for it. Hard to tell from this pic but this is typical of what I see. Four feet, two slightly ahead of two and slightly offset. Never see it different. [Linked Image]

I know you guys have marten in Montana but do you have fisher...? Isn't fisher more of a eastern North American northern forest critter?

Not typical in my area but definently have ideal habit for them here where the tracks are shown. Very remote heavy cover crick and river bottoms with good food supply for them.

Fisher are documented 125 miles east of you in ND. So it very well could be.

I went back through some of the many fisher tracks I've taken pics of over the past few seasons and these seem very representative of what I see. Always bounding.
