I guess you must have been a teenager in the 80's Posco. Seems like those are the years music has the most impact on our lives.
But in defense of the 60's there were many more impactful bands then ,than in the 80's or other decades.

You mentioned Tom Petty,great artist. He was greatly influenced by The Byrds and Roger Mcguinn. He released several songs written by the Byrds--I'll feel a whole lot better ,comes to mind. He also wrote and recorded with Roger Mcguinn---they had an 80s hit together--King of The Hill. The last album Petty produced was just before his death. That was by former Byrd -Chris Hillman.
