I am new to bait making and thought I would grind up 2 gallons of beaver fleshing, should these be preserved like regular beaver meat, 32oz of salt per gallon of meat?

Also should I let it age?

Or just a bad idea to start with and dump it?

It is as a light shade of pink

Thanks
Kevin

I put my beaver scraps in a bread bag and make a loaf of frozen bait for my cat cubbies just the way they come off of the floor. Animals prefer a slight taint to their meat kind of like aged meat to us.

Beaver lard is very good sun rendered and made into oil. Pour it off once a week or so. Now you have something you can easily add other ingredients to when it is warmed up.
