The farm I trap on doesn't want me to harvest fox, no big deal to me, I'm running offset bridger #2s with shock springs to reduce potential injury. My target is coyote I've had consistent catches the problem is id rather not catch the fox they have been clogging up my sets the whole season. I've been upping my pan tension its at the point I think it would take a horse to set it off but I'm still getting fox. Is there any other techniques to exclude fox besides not trapping? Looking for things I can try next season thanks [Linked Image]

Yeah that's kinda what I thought I'm just getting over run with fox, seemed like every time I put in a new set there would be a fox in it, I've been able to release them all uninjured but I think they're keeping me from catching more yotes

Odds are if you've got that many fox you probably don't have the that many coyotes in the area. K-9's are K-9's, if you're setting for them you'll catch them both. Fox will work a set until they get caught, coyotes not so much.

If you have that many fox... there might not be that many yotes.

Are any of your fox getting ate up? If not you probably don't have many coyotes around.

In cold weather it is hard not to get a frozen paw/toe might not be good releasing fox with frozen feet.

Hard to believe you have enough of a red left to release with coyotes around.

You could maybe hunt that property to pick the coyotes off and not hurt your fox population.

It seems like the red fox are doing pretty good in WI the last couple years. I suppose...they're not really worth killing. And, guys have been hitting the coyotes pretty hard.

I'd see about trapping the neighboring farm and take the fox off there. Less fox to get into your ypte sets across the fence

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.
