Ethan, you are the perfect young man to become a very good trapper, first you admitted your mistakes, you live in a good area where the culture of trapping is accepted and encouraged.
But the biggest thing is time is on your side, and your reaching out to learn.
Your going to go far. Thank you and with everyones help on here maybe one day i will be a longliner and maybe sell my own baits and lures

I never have but one time a guy said he sent me a postal money order for some traps that I didn't get. I felt bad I had several lots for sale and every money order or check I did get had the lot description and pretty soon I was out of traps. IDK what I could have done for the poor guy but he said he lost his receipt so I guess nobody could have helped him.
I have had a couple guys back out of a deal suddenly which is irritating but i have never been screwed over

I work with my coyotes to turd more, but they tell me I win - they lose, so it's a tough band to work day to day let me tell ya. They always meet Lee's Death Ray as a result. I've been ripped on here. Even after "respected members" references.
Have had "trappers" and others steal from my line.
Have had other dishonest dealings. Not everyone is honest.
That's life, learn from it. Not everyone is good, or bad.
That said, many of my best friends are trappers.
If you stay with this and get mobile to the conventions,
that will open up a whole other world.
A lot of us wish we were 15, with a website like this tman.

You will find that you have no reason to be dishonest with us.
You are only competing with yourself. No one else
You have a lot you want to learn about trapping and you are excited about learning it all right now. I suggest you slow down and pursue one topic at a time until you have a lot of information to sort through.Then switch to another topic. You won't learn everything.......ever. But it will take a few years before you become competent. That's ok.
Confidence in your trapping ability will come with time.
Confidence in yourself will be enhanced by your honesty. This is great info. Many should heed Mr Ken's words!
