What am I missing in the first one?

Looks like a deer behind the feeder or is that some other critter?

2nd pic is a good reminder for ranchers to pick up that hay string and net wrap

Ft Riley Elk clear down to Marion now, Seth? We have some around here where I live too. Saw a big "deer" track some years back that was definately bull elk! People see them north of us all the time. Wy where I used to trap, had none there, and now there is a heard in that area! Expanding their range, and I like it!

Lee they have another herd at the Maxwell Game Preserve which is about half way between Marion and Lindsborg. His uncle Mark has ground not too far away and could tell you about other strange occurrences in the area.

Not sure were she came from , about 10 years ago a guy with elk had some get out but they all had ear tags. So if she wasn't from that deal it would leave Ft Riley or maxwell. They been seeing a small bull south of town this fall and winter, the cow we've been seeing for about a year and a half. Wish the bull would find the cow.

In the early 90s I was hunting a property between Lindsborg and Mac right on the east side of interstate. Was a small.herd of elk that escaped maxwell and they let run free for a few years until farmers started complaining. 3 cows and calves 2 spikes, one rag horn and a herd bull that seemed like a monster to this flat lander. We had them under our tree stands a time or two. The state shot them all a year later.

Seth, I forgot about the Maxwell herd. The first eight years or so, our st trappers met at Maxwell, that was a long time ago. Was nothing there but a camp ground! You staying warm? smile

Marion, isn't that purty close to your old home stomping grounds around there? Maybe just a tad north of there?

Yeah, I've heard of them shipping some of. them out of there from time to time. Don't seem that long ago when they brought them into Ft Riley. Dang, I was a kid in my twentys!
