I've been known to do that, but only when I get a wise guy coyote .

I do occasionally when I have an educated coyote digging traps out. Dirt hole set normally and a perfectly blended trap about 3 feet behind the backing.

LOL... No, But I have used double sets for some wise critters in the past few years. I'll do it if I get a trap wise coon. My area seems to get a couple every so often. I guess it's because of the trapping pressure. I'll get a coon that will dig and flip the trap so I'll bury one flipped already and one regular. That usually gets them. Fox, when I used to trap K-9 I liked double sets at times. It all depends on the situation and location. I was never a great k-9 trapper and it made it a bit easier. However, people do not understand what a leash is so I don't really trap K-9 anymore.

I've had my share of encounters with dogs running wild and trespassing dog walkers. I am fortunate to have a great warden and deputy in my area that have gone to bat for me several times. With their help I have been 100% successful against the trespassers/thieves in court and out.

Eh...wot?

Yes 2 wolf or coyote traps set blind in the snow go trail or even pee post sets. James Mast was a proponent of what he called the deadly 4 trap trail set.

I have on cat sets. Had one set that ever night the back side would be tore up. I put a #2 back there and had a big Tom the next morning. For the most part I don’t unless something tells me too.

For coyotes I do it almost every time. Not uncommon to have doubles.

For the tricky ones yes, waiting for this guy to come back. One to the left of this one by the T-bone.

You have doubles at one set?

Hobbie,
Yes, I've caught several doubles in the last 2 years since setting 2-3 traps in one location. Somewhat depends on how many coyotes come by each night.

I almost always used two traps at my fish stick sets. Caught many dbls that way. If ya do this make real sure the traps are anchored far enough apart the coon can't get tangled. They can make a mess that will take ya awhile to get straightened out.

As good a fox trapper as I ever trapped with used two traps at most of his fox sets. oddly he seldom had a fox caught by more than one foot. The other trap may be out of the bed but not holding another foot.

I don’t think that’s what the OP is asking. I think everybody makes at least 2 sets at a location.

Do you use 2 traps at a set?
