That looks like 6" or more. In pure sand you might be able to hold on to it, but the underground unknowns...?? When that blade grabs a rock or root you'll get a sprained wrist or worse. I have a difficult time with a 3 inch auger due to roots, clay and rocky soil. Better have a few drills handy and several batteries. Most likely will burn up a drill to two.If you have a drill with a built in safety break you wont drill much before it shuts off frequently due to the stress on the motor. I have 6 rigid drills with that built in over load system. they all shut off due to motor stress and heat sensors after some use with augers.
