Sounds like a barrel burner.

Had a 6.5 x 300 Weatherby IMP with 30 inch 1-8 gain twist Bartlein afew years ago . Shot 140s in the 3700 Fps range . It had NO turn neck from PTG reamer on a Stiller action with McMillian stock . IF you want some reloading data , feel free to PM me and I will dig it up . You could just back it down afew grain. I shot 6.5x300 Weatherby brass and regular loads to fire form my brass, to start with so I have some good medium velocity starter loads some where

Sounds expensive. But, i fully understand if that is what you want. A 300 win mag would work for far less the cost. Sarge

I sent the p.m. before I saw this post but they’ll go out to 1000 yards really easy, price wise they’re comparable to any other weatherby, with the muzzle break they don’t kick very bad, as far as barrel burning they do move but weatherby builds their rifles to handle it.

I built a handful of them back in the 80s. The target guns had 26 or 27 inch bull barrels with flutes 3/16 inch wide and deep. The sporters had number five barrels, also 25 or 26”.
All were stainless.

Speed kills, anything over 3500 fps gives me goosebumps. I got a 7STW thats a hoot, hard on the powder though. Have fun men.

SOME people look at a barrel , just like any other reloading product Like bullets powder and primers . Barrels are not hard to have replaced . Specially when your gunsmith uses your personal range LOL! I have rebarreled my 284 Shehane 3 times since 2010 . Would be much more BUT stopped shooting F class in 2014 A 6.5x300 weatherby should give at least 600-700 rds of use full barrel life

Have a 7mm stw, a 7mm Allen mag, a 6.5 Gibbs, and a 338 Edge almost complete, the big jugs do wonderful things!
