Bunch of my grandpas papers I received lately. Thought it might be interesting. Going through boxes of papers. Always something interesting. [Linked Image]

Dang those are in really good shape

Are you planning on framing them and displaying them, I would if they were mine

Pretty cool how the skunk prices flipped from '36 short and narrow worth more to '37 wide and Long desired. Cool papers I could look at those for hours

$55 dollar mink!
That'd be a fever dream now. With one mink then you could buy around 6 dozen number 2 traps.

$55 dollars in 1937 is equivalent of over $900 dollars today.
How would you like to get $900 avg for your mink?

Beaver were on the verge of extinction back then,(between1920 and 1940) and trapping was not allowed for them anywhere.

Super cool. I like the listing for house cat. What is a fitch on the 6th paper?

I'm itchin' to see a coyote twitchin'.

More trappin' and less yappin'.

I missed that on the original card. I’m still laughing about the house cats. Black cat was best price, coloured cats way lower.

A Fitch/polecat = a ferret I’m guessing. I think we used to have wild ones here but I’m not positive. I wish I would have asked my grandpa more about trapping but I was to young when he passed [Linked Image]

He used to run a tannery back in 30s to the 50s. I spent a week reading through all his books about sales. Buffalo coats were sold for $9. Sold more harness than you could imagine. Paper work from going to the mayo clinic in the 30s. He ordered more stuff from the USA to Canada than I have in my life. Ordered bees from a company in California. Every box I open is a treasure. Would have been great to get the stories on a lot of his papers he saved. I don’t have many trapping pictures of him but this is my favorite.

My mom figures it’s in the 40s sometime
