Have been mentoring Dr. Mike for a few months now. He decided one day he wanted to learn how to catch coyotes and fox. He took a year off from work and had some time to do some things different. He has come a long way since early fall. Mike has found great interest and a new challenge in trapping.

I had him on a couple ride alongs this winter. This is our most recent day spent together. He is learning very quickly. A very bright man. Next fall will give him a chance to take advantage of his new developing skills and enjoy some nice fall weather hopefully.

Saw his first double on coyotes caught on a double scent post. Most likely a mated pair caught this late in the year. Caught a 3 legged coyote that day and a very big old dog coyote. A rare red fox every now and then. Got 3 on this one farm

Goes to show that we are never too old to start a new venture in life. I think he will develop into a fine trapper in the years to come.

If pics are recent, there's a lil more snow to your North.

Looks like he caught on pretty fast thanks to a good teacher. Good job!

These pics were taken just before we got hammered with 10" of fresh snow then 4" more a couple days later. I pulled just before the big snow or I would not have been able to get to some sets with my truck. Our coyotes eat well in these parts. Friend of my neighbor said he saw a black coyote dragging a deer still alive, it had it held by an ear crossing a local township road recently.

This deeper snow makes easier hunting and stalking these deer.
