Law Dog OP trapper Joined: Dec 2010 Posts: 34,872 Central, SD	3 days remain to the cat season I had cats on my cam when I prebaited before the season started it was cold and snowy then, it warmed up so the creek opened in places but they did not come around (3-4 inches deep) after that. I went in to move the set (barrel cubby) to a shelf above for the last 3 days it has high cut wall that would guide them along that ridge above the creek. I had a barrel cubby set up against a brushy snag (1 trap) and a pocket type set from the prebait they hit on before Christmas (1 trap) the plan was to make it a 2 trap open ended cubby set. So I get down there with a full ice cream pail of waxed dirt urine and lure to move the barrel to higher ground as that was the plan to avoid it getting washed away from the spring runoff to the Missouri River. I just checked this set yesterday so I’m on a mission the plan was to move the cubby and test the cams before I put them away. I walk up to the cubby all’s well then I see the other set is ripped up but nothing I can see so I follow the chain expecting a empty trap hanging in the brush like last week. Took a few more steps and I see the cat hiding behind the cubby, good thing I did not pull the cubby out to move it that would of got the heart going. LOL the bad part was I had to carry all of that trapping gear out since I’m done down there with a 1 cat East River limit no limit West River . Last edited by Law Dog; 02/12/21 09:31 PM.
