I took truck out for drive warm up in -10 , plug in block heater later, so I shut off for 20 min an then after 20 min I open hood an check oil, could sub zero cold air , crack aluimimn block if shut off for 20 min bfore open hood ? I had hood open 15 min as look flashlite at spots what look like maybe a lil slop oil or coolant , not sure if fresh, possibly top hose motor connection seep when sub zero weather out, just blew $950 on water pump belt an other work, 2 weeks ago , I have watch it as not want ruin new belt coolant if it is leak , just wondering if cold air on motor shut off 20 min bfore open hood for 15 min , can crack aluimimn block , it awful cold

No.

Your fan blows that cold air on the motor the whole time you're driving. And the bottom of the engine bay is open to the air.

No, it won’t hurt it. It would have to go from extreme hot to extreme cold very quickly for that to happen.

If you want to crack it I suggest you let it get hot from running it then turn the hose on it.

Kind of ironic when you have 5-10 threads a year on here about your vehicle problems. Go look at your post history if you are forgetting them.

Thought smelt like coolant on intake or power steer fluid, wrong, power steer pump seal out, so got order pump an put in Fri, leak much worse an bought fluid an mess, hope not ruin new drive belt, shop say that cold weather dry out seals an that why start leak , my hands are dry out, humidity very low hides are very dry , not bad price aftermarket pump, $235, could oil slop on new drive belt ruin it or make it squeal ?
