Wolfdog....that’s why I took up bread baking...since last March when the Covid Hit.....couldn’t find any bread....Now Iam good at it ! It’s easy ...with you tube. I know you've probably caught some crap about making bread... But I think it's pretty awesome. My wife has been baking bread lately and it beats that store-bought garbage by a mile. Especially right out of the oven with a little buttah! Mike

I lived in Florida quite a few years and every time someone mentioned snow... everybody wanted to try and choke the life out of their stearing wheel on their vehicles and ride their brakes.
Geesh...!!!

instead of powdered milk we keep a little condensed milk in cans on hand. can dilute one can with a can of water. it has fat in it. tastes much better. i dont like the stuff that has been sweetened. i can make bread without it but i use a bread machine. just dump everything in and 3 hours later you have a loaf of bread.
we try to stay stocked up. use to have a convenience store here but it went belly up with the zombie virus. its 30 plus mile round trip just to get a stick of butter now.

Shop is closed today. Even at 50, still get a snow day every now and then here in Dixie.

Don’t have to dirty dishes (frozen pipes, no water) if you eat sandwiches.
Also, it’s a different time we live in compared to the times of our parents and grandparents. Knowing how to cook from scratch is becoming a skill that fewer people have. Some people pretty much only eat from restaurants and/or frozen and other easy to prepare foods.
I like nessmuck’s answer, although I haven’t started baking bread yet. Ain't that the truth. I've had people look at my lunch and ask how I learned to cook and when I told them I just poured some beef stew over some rice they said they had no clue how to cook the rice. So happy my mom taught me how to cook lol

the French Toast Phenomenon.
bread , milk , eggs being the 3 major ingredients in French toast
if your well stocked you don't even need to go visit the store when the crazy is there.

You might not have any bread Wolfie, but you got Moon Pies and Little Debbie powdered donuts. A southern boy can get by on that for months.
Pete Pete: Moon Pies, they must be a Southern thing, A friend sent me a package of 12 I think. I tried one and the wife also tried one the rest went out to the bird feeder. As the man kissed the cow he said each man to his own Taste! LOL
