this is one of my favorite movies , American Guerilla in the Philippines
I learned more about him recently I had not know that he build shotguns for a short time.

More about David and his shotgun

I tried what I call guerilla reloading a while back , the important part is to truly understand the process then how minimally can you do it .

my guerilla reloading setup was

cast lead bullets , fired cases from that gun , primers , a block of hard wood , a punch and a bolt

I had a powder measure made from another spent casing , these were light cast bullet loads they had to be loaded 1 at a time but they worked

the case was modified with dimples in the neck I figured out how far into the neck the bullet needed to seat with a bullet in I dimpled just behind the base of the bullet on 2 sides with a punch so that it could not easily slide into the case too far.

then with a hole drilled in the block of wood to receive the primer the punch drove the primer out into the hole the spent primer could then be discarded move over a bit on the wood and set the new primer down push the case over the primer lining it up to get it started bolt that insert through the case mouth and sits down flat down on case web , a few taps with a block of wood being used as a mallet and the primer is seated flush.

measure powder with shell casing of appropriate size mine was a 380 case with some wire rapped around the rim to make a handle I checked the measure with a scale

if I was using Black powder it would have been fill to just above my dimples and press the bullet down on it as black must be a case full slightly compressed

buying a lee loader would likely be easier and allow you to do much more

but understanding the concepts is important or it is to me.

I am an adult and I wore safety glasses , and I understood the process and what could go wrong checked my measurements with a scale , this is obviously not a book approved way to load but very educational.

a pound of powder and a sack of bullets and a few cases could have you shooting for more than a 1000 rounds on say 1 box of your old brass

if you have the primers I guess

Very interesting, I've been thinking about tmdoing the same with one of the little lee hammer kits. Though I'd have to have a set of calipers just because I'm a nut when it come to consistency.

the movie spent a lot more time on the radio communications that they improvised than any arms improvised

Mighty impressive!

know anyone with spare 10/22 parts laying around , snatch them up

https://ctrlpew.com/10-22-printable-receiver/

think about the pressures in a 10/22 reviver , the bolt is moved by the case so all the pressure is on the bolt , the weight of the bolt and spring stop the travel , the most pressure on the receiver is no more than when you pull the charging handle . when the bolt gets all the way back to the recoil pin , replace recoil pin with derlin rod like you do on a aluminum receiver , the barrel band holds the barrel to the stock so there is not really any flex on the receiver for the barrel either.

So got down the youtube wormhole and ended up watching Billy Bob BushCrafter make slam fire 12 gauge shotguns out of black iron threaded pipe. Pretty creative.

When I was back in H.S, (alot of years ago) made a .410 version . Kind of a kick to play with ----- just don't ask me about my other experiments with rocket engines and light bulbs full of gas.

I am not sure I trust just pipe threads to hold . round stock with a bolt through it sounds better.

back in Jan 2020 during the Virginia gun rights rally I could see a need a home made SMG now while full auto open bolt is certainly the easiest way to go , it presents currently legal issues thus a close bolt pistol caliber gun should be designed

basically along the lines of the Grease gun

it should be so simple that with a few parts and an angle grinder and some files you could construct one the barrel is going to be the hardest thing to source

well someone else was having the same idea and is much better at 3d printing https://ctrlpew.com/fgc9-file-drop-2/

here is a kit now available for reloading shot shels , similar to the lee loader and gives you a good idea how you could reload with even less than this if it was just for one gun.

I think I mentioned above some place I have a Lee loader 3 inch kit , didn't realize it was the 3 inch till I sat down to read the directions they all used to use the same box years ago

well I found an inexpensive fix to using the lee loader 3 inch on 2 3/4 shells it costs 15 cents as in very specifically 3 nickels it isn't exactly 1/4 inch .250 however .225 it is close enough to get a crimp and that is the only real difference between the kits
