Perfect timing for my blower to go out in the blazer... I’ll check the fuse when I get off work,, hopefully that is all it is

Resistor should be next to the blower motor itself. They typically lose low speeds first. Put a test light on the motor connector and see if you get voltage at any fan speed.

The most common cause is a bad resistor. But that often happens when the motor bearings are going bad and putting extra load on the resistors.

There's typically 3 resistors all side by side. Sometimes near the blower sometimes near the fan speed dial. Either way, it's wired between the fan speed dial and the blower.

The dial sends the power through either 1, 2, 3, or zero resistors to change the fan speed. If some speeds work and others don't it's probably a resistor or two that have failed. If only high speed works, all resistors have now failed. If no speed works it's something else.

Super common....but before you even unplug anything, give the blower motor a good smack with the switch on,it just might come back to life. If so, you need a new blower motor. Otherwise you're probably looking at a burned connector terminal on the blower motor resistor connector or the blower motor connector.

Sometimes you can get life out of them to get you to a warm up. I have used the smack method, but when you hit a bump it may shut off until you smack it again.

thanks for the replies guys......I put the tester to it ,,,I have fire all the way to the motor.........I tried the smacking method......up under the dash behind the glove box.....took a tire iron.....I was afraid I was hitting it too hard and didn't wanna knock a hole in it..........nothing. it doesn't look like its gonna be to hard to replace it........just gotta take a bunch of stuff off to get to it,,,,,,,,,,,,which sucks.........because im in the cold,,,,,,,,and no garage or access to one.

Did you look closely at the wiring harness? If there's a short there it's hard to see casually.

If you've got 12 volts at the motor connector, then it sure sounds like the motor. I've seen them freeze solid in cold temps if there is moisture in them. Have fun replacing it. I don't miss standing on my head doing those. Although cadillacs were generally cleaner than farm trucks.

I did 3 of the resister packs this last year 2 in 2004 and 1 in a 2000 two fords and a gmc 2 of the 3 still had high

got to do the one ont he 2000 twice as the first one had a broken solder joint , it is also the hardest one to get to by the passengers feet finally went and grabbed the passenger mirror of the truck my son wrecked and pried it loose so I could lay it on the floor , I had tried my phone but it was too small and too hard to get to set right

America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Try a 2000's era W body (grand prix, intrigue). Those suck worse than any I have done. There's 3 bolts that hold them in. I know a lot of cars out there that only have 2 bolts now.
