Bacon has gotten a bit expensive lately so we don’t do it often. I save the grease and will mix for use next fall. Has anyone tried mixing it with cat food? My thoughts are that it congeals fast and doesn’t soak in very well. Then you end up with a block of cat food instead of coated pieces. To that end, is there anything you can add that will keep it liquid until it soaked into the cat food?

One method I have used with molasses might work with bacon grease. If you heat up molasses, pour a little in an empty large plastic container like the plastic tubs that pretzels come in from big box stores and roll it around to coat the walls, you can fill it with chunk food 1/2 to 2/3 the way and shake and roll it. It puts a light coating on the chunks.
Probably make just enough for a day or so to use...
I believe Mousie trapper showed me this.

I’m hoping to have a dry coated pellet that smells like bacon. I suppose I could just mix bacon bits with with calf starter and get a similar favor.
