She has invited me for Thanksgiving dinner and Christmas dinners at the ranch. It's the least I could due is offer her some free eggs.

Some folks don’t get it for sure most of my places I acquired through trapping skunks for free, the places I trap on get eggs I have places I cannot get to in a season. All of the rats I go after this year are on people places I trapped for them in the past for free.

Yeah all my trapping is done for free alllso. The main ranch i trap for her mother was a big time rat trapper back in the day. And one day the ranch owner drove me up to one of the old bunk houses and told me to go look inside and tell her what was in there. I found over
Two hundred rat traps from 1 1/2 l.s #1 l.s 110 coni's five dozen #1 stop-loss l.s. when I told her what I saw. She said oh are those still in there. And explained to me they all belonged to her mother and that she wanted me to have them. Not for any kind of payment she just knew they were going to a good home .

You sir, are to be commended for your compassion not only to your neighbor but to the “others” who can use them.

In 1960 I got $.50 a dozen. That 50 cent piece is now worth $10.00.

I sell my eggs for $2.00 a dozen. Their mostly brown eggs. And free range when the weather permits.

In the large grocery stores, brown, free range , organic and packed in a clear crate are $5.00 a dozen. crazy

Yes, the price of feed is on the rise. Especially this winter and the chickens don't want to travel outside of the coop. I can't blame them.

The farm fresh organic section of the grocery store is the most expensive section. I forget what my brother gets for selling beef at his work but its too much and he tells them to go somewhere else its cheaper but they keep ordering it from him b/c they know where it comes from.

If you been out of the game for awhile what you are missing is its not sell a doz eggs for what you can buy a doz eggs at the store for anymore. I think we even sold them for less than the store back in 90. Now its a premium product that you can charge a premium price for and people buy it to cut the big wig wholesale farms and their cost costing ways out b/c they know the animals are taken care of better and the product is superior.

We have a multitude of colors from blue, green and several shades of brown. We don't set a price we ask for donations. Most pay $3 per dozen, some a bit less and a couple more. We need to get more improved layers as ours shut down quite a bit this last winter and for quite a while. We can tell by the egg color and size who is laying and who is not. Need to get some better stock and have more chicken noodle soup.

The ladies have started production again. The customers are out of the groove and the snow putting a damper on delivery. We deliver to good customers when we are our in their area. Primary our csa customers before the csa starts for the year. Keeps a good relation ship and builds loyalty to our farm.

We have do many piling up the dogs and cats also got scrambled eggs for breakfast this morning.

I buy my eggs out of the store I never did see any difference In taste between these so called free range eggs and the other type. A little salt and pepper and a shot of Tabasco and your good to go.

You can crack a store egg next to a farm fed egg and it’s a world of difference between them, the store eggs a pale yellow the farm eggs are orange like a sunrise.
