I can't recall seeing lower temps in my short life. I know the yanks are laughing but we don't have snow equipment here.

-17 here last night at about 4 AM

If it was 11 above here I’d put on some sunblock and work on my tan drinking iced tea. LOL

-16 here coldest I have seen here in my neck of woods.

In fairness to you southern guys, I have experienced the cold temps down your way at different times, and it seems like 10 degrees down there is way colder than 10 degrees up here. Maybe its the moisture or something.

The worst part is the ice and sleet/snow on the roads.

I bet your kids are having a great time doing all the fun winter stuff they never had a chance to do,like skating,skiing,sliding,snowball fighting,building snowforts,playing king of the hill,making snowmen,hooking their dogs up to sleighs,and all the other fun winter things that kids in the north love.

No, the snow doesn't pack to build anything or make snowballs. Nobody has skis or sleighs. We are using 4 wheelers and knee boards although it is alot more fun in the mud than the sleet/snow.

Dont worry,kids will find a way to have fun in the snow and do all those fun things.

I feel for you guys in the south. Things aren’t built for that cold down there. I’ll take back the cold if you guys promise to keep the humidity down there.

It was -19°F at my place this morning. That is the second coldest temperature I have seen in Kansas. I walked to class one morning at K-State in late January and the actual temperature was -27°F. Not exactly sure of the year. It was either 1980 or 1981. It was the year we had the massive blizzard that began on New Year's Eve. The blizzard closed I-70 and pushed back the opening of K-State a week or so.

If you are referring to me, my first job after college was in Cut Bank, Montana. You might say I jumped from the frying pan directly into the fire.

Here is reading on my truck when I drove into work this morning..a real test of antifreeze for sure. I honestly cannot remember seeing -34 below. Its super cold and this is actual temp, not windchill factor.
Worked all night to keep couple of water lines from freezing in our home. Tractor gelled up on me yesterday when blading snow. Not fun at these levels at all.

I saw on the weather channel last night, I think it was Omaha where they could break the record for the coldest ever on record for that city.
