What will you use to replace the rotted wood?

I prefer composite board or I use exterior plywood. I use some techniques on wood to try to inhibit rot.

Time to catch up on this transom rebuild.

First pic shows the ground clean glass that was left after removing the old rotted out transom. Grinding not only cleans all the old wood off but also will provide a good mechanical bond of the new glass.


Second pic is the first layer of glass going in. I didnt get a pic of wetting it out with resin as this is a time sensitive step. No time to mess with a camera.


After the glass was wet out with a healthy dose of resin the first layer of wood is set it place. As you can see it is clamped, wedged and screwed in place to keep it firmly bedded in the wet glass. More steps to follow.

If green treated plywood is used beware with aluminum
