Glad it was your foot with a boot on and not a hand or arm. Those things can break stuff!

Belisle is the last body grip trap I'd want to get caught in. Those springs are tough. I always carried a looped rope in my pocket; not cumbersome, light weight, doesn't take up much room.
I don't care how nice the hand soap smells, you should never walk out of the restroom sniffing your fingers.

Foot and hands in 330. Not at the same time. Foot was chest deep and also on a chew stick under ice. Took 15 minutes to kick it off the stick so I could crawl out on the ice.
Several times hand in Bridger #5.

A short piece of hacksaw blade in your shirt pocket will get you out of that situation. For my limb? Because heck No- I wouldn't cut a Belisle!!!!

I posted this a couple years ago on the Wilderness forum but looks like it would work on this thread as well. Here's how we recommend getting your hand, or any other body part, out of a large body grip trap. I'd do this before cutting a spring or jaw. LOL One spring always seems more awkward to get at than the other. Save the awkward spring for last. Grab easy spring arms with setter, compress spring. Let gravity swing spring hook in place. Or let go of setter handle, spring will stay compressed as long as you don't push thumb release on setter, and put spring hook in place manually. Now move to awkward spring. Only a few strokes are required on this spring for jaws to open enough to remove your hand, or foot! LOL
