Ok Let talk big bore air rifles. Being that it's almost impossible to find ammo, primers, bullets, brass and last powder I've been starting to think about purchasing a big bore air rifle. I've been looking at a lot of different makes and models, and I'm really leaning towards the Gamo TC45 caliber rifle. A huge selection of bullets for these are in stock in almost all the air gun web sites. It would also not have to be registered as a firearm whistle

Let's hear who has a big bore air rifle (make & model) pro's & con's of what you have or have shot.

Below is a video of the rifle I'm thinking about purchasing so give me your honest opinion of it.

I don't have one but have been doing a little reading on them. They sure do seem to be very accurate and the "quiet factor" may come in handy. I will watch this thread and see where it goes.

Talk to people that own guns like that. I have a .22 that is so accurate you would never believe it. Their are a lot of down falls that come with it. My air tank holds 250 bars also, but I can not get anyone to fill to its capacity.

Pick up a Chinese compressor for$300. I have been putting it off because my boys guns only fill to 2k psi and have low volume so hand pumping is easy.

I saw my first ching Chong compresser this week and the owner was very happy with it after over a year of use. He fills out dated 20 min fire tanks to 4500 psi in about an hour. The compressor is not rated to fill tanks only guns but its working well for him.

I will go this route when I get guns that have more volume and higher pressure. 300 for the compressor and 50 or less for an out of date tank is cheaper than a new tank.

Thats what I was kind of worried about trying to get a tank filled by any shop. They told me 1 week turn around and depending on the size of the tank but it wouldn't be more then $40 lol. So I started looking for a high out put compressor and found this one for $359 on amazon with a lot of good reviews. It's very portable and you can run it off your car/truck battery in the field or on 110 volt.

A dive shop fills my carbon fiber tank to 4500 psi. Doesn't take to long and it is very reasonable but it has to sit for several hours to cool down. When I got this tank a small compressor was way more expensive than now. Those are good deals.

They aren't exactly quiet, but you can get suppressors for them.

In this hobby, (airguns) , you get what you pay for. The compressors need rebuilt from time to time as there is a lot of wear and tear on them. The cheap chicom models most of them, don't allow for a rebuild even if you could find the parts. Same with rifles. Make sure you do your homework and read plenty of reviews on what you're looking at. Some companies have very little support, which you will need at some point as there is plenty of maintenance on pcp's.
