Good photography. Are they male, black necked grebes? I have only seen grebes a few times in my entire life. They must like bigger bodies of water than I normally go to.
Keith This is a pair of Eared Grebs, sexes are similar looking in these birds. Here in SD they are colonial nesters and build floating nests in the vegetation. They are typically found in larger sized bodies of water that are fairly shallow with lots of grasses and reeds.
