I have fumbled with the guitar my whole life LOL, I was trying open g tuning, could someone tell me what all the single finger across the fret chords are? I have tried to look online but I have trouble with the flats/sharps etc.

thanks

if I place a single finger across, 1-12 frets what are those chords? I know A second fret, b fourth, c fifth, d 7th, e9th, f 10th. so what are the first, 3rd, 6th, 8th fret?

Are you open tuning all six or are you using the Keith Richards version?

Each fret is a half step up, and 2 frets is a whole step up, I don’t know if that helps. I do know that I’m open G the 3rd fret is Asharp (A#) (as far as the fret being barred making a chord)

Basically, your bars(which would be chords in an open tuning) will follow the intervals of the major scale if your tuning open in a major key. Hopefully that makes sense to you. Just as stated above, whole steps, and the one step interval occuring between the 3rd and 4th will give you a major scale in any given key. Also,a half step to continue the scale in that key between the seventh and root (1st note of scale). I’m not a teacher or anything, but that’s what helped me tie everything together way back when. I would suggest learning a few scales before fooling with alternative tunings. In the long run you will understand why the intervals are where they are rather than just memorizing them. Happy jammin

explained well above. nothing wrong with experimenting with open tunings, get a glass slide to try it, a lighter or pc of copper pipe can work in a pinch. Always something new to learn on the six string

An old blues player from Tappahannock, Virginia by the name of John Jackson strummed a few songs in an open G. He described it an tuning "Spanish" for some reason. He played what I would call country blues, and he would perform unaccompanied. Worth a listen if you can find it. I have one of his CDs and thoroughly enjoy it.

Most songs are made up of the 1, 4, 5. or I, IV, V.

That’s the first note of a scale, the fourth and fifth.

Example key of G. The scale is G, A, B, C, D, E, F# which brings us back to G

Harmonic chords in that key would be Em, Am and Bm7.

George Thorogood made a name with “Bad to the Bone”, which is a one chord song, Open G.
