God Bless their souls. Today In History On Feb. 23, 1945, Marines famously raised the U.S. flag on Mount Suribachi, Iwo Jima. One of those Marines was Cpl. Harlon Block of Weslaco, Texas. the one with the picture , was the second raising , no one had a camera the first time so they did it again for the camera.
