If you follow my threads, you’ll have to think back to the one where I had video of a fox walking up to a snare and then going around it. I stated that I would wipe it down with an alcohol wipe and then relocate it a few feet away, I believe 6 feet was the distance. Since that action I have posted video of foxes walking between two DHs and avoiding the snare in between. That is until last night.

Here is the location from the camera angle, give or take a few degrees, after the catch.

A nice Red released.

Without clear identification I have no idea if this was a new visitor to the area or one of the regulars that forgot the snare was there.

Which do you think it is?

I'm thinking it was a new guy. I don't think the ones already on high-alert would forget.

I suppose the question really is, “What is to be gained knowing if the regulars forgot or is it a new to the area fox?” If nothing, then who cares.

I released two a few years ago and used a paper punch to make a hole in their ears. Don't think it would have healed over but never caught one that I knew of with that hole. Both were small juveniles

Those of us who have our "residents" very much appreciate this thread -- but you could have at least paint marked him for next time -- the marking rattle cans or grease markers are pretty cheap. grin

Nice experiment Hobbie Trapper!! Have the little ear tag ready next time grin

I noticed leftlane's use of the word "fool"
Quote

. I've noticed that people from certain parts of the country use "fool" more often than others. I just don't hear it up in the upper Midwest/eastern Great Plains that much. Perhaps it didn't translate well from the German/Norwegians that most of these folks came from. Just a theory...

NonPCfed I travel and allways have since I ran off with the rodeo some 30 years ago and if a man talks for a while I can usually get real close to tellin ya where he lives or grew up. I try not to over think it but yeah- there are prolly reasons for it.

Usually when I speak the word fool I make the L silent like Mr. T did back in the 80s LOL.

You guys are creating more questions. Does a roaming newbie indicate they aren’t territorial? Perhaps they are but crossover just this time of year?
