I just bought a new Bushnell Prime scope and it doesn't have any lens caps in the box?!?
Is this normal now and you buy aftermarket caps?
I don't feel right storing and transporting the gun without lens caps on. Am I just worrying about nothing?

Just happy to be here.

There are NO dumb questions in life. You are seeking information!
I’d call Bushnell and ask If they are supposed to come with a set, if they forgot to put them in the box?
They might just send you a set for free! It worked for me.

I never even take the lens caps out of the boxes these days. I had several sets in a drawer, I never even put the scopes, I can't recall if I threw them out when I cleaned out that drawer before Christmas. I didn't know anyone actually used them. lol I'd be ok if they knocked a couple bucks of the price and didn't include them or those little lens cloths either.

But to answer your question, it should say on the box what is supposed to be included in the box.

I know I sound like an old man LOL...I just can't justify leaving the glass exposed when the rifle is rolling around in the truck.
I am fine buying butler creeks if I need to but I am used to getting a set of caps with a new scope

Just happy to be here.

I bought 2 Burris, 3 Nikons and 4 Bushnell scopes in the last 6 months. The Bushnell scopes are the only ones that came with lens caps.

I use the Butler Creek see through ones. Nicer if you get a hurried shot.

It is a small game rifle (.22lr) that doubles as a dispatch gun. It gets heavy use for coon, woodchuck, squirrel, etc

And you can rainx those lenses, unlike a milti-coated scope lens

Vortex makes some nice caps they have fancy ones with spot for balistic data and less expensive ones that are very rubbery mounts and fit a wider range of sizes . I have also used the butler creek flip ups

take the gun unloaded and cased to your local gun shop and they should be able to help you get some on your scope.

I put them on most all my hunting guns I like the flip ups even if the scope comes with the caps and bungee it is so much more convenient to have the flip ups

walking in the rain flip the cap down
storing the gun , caps down
in the snow caps down , when you see a deer is a bad time to have a messed up scope lens .
they take well less than a second top hit the tabs and the flip out of the way

Like Waggler and Bruce said.... I use Leupold neoprene scope covers, remove about half of the stitching on the ends and re-sew so the stitching doesn't come undone. Then I use two zip ties or string to secure the cover on both sides of the elevation/windage covers.

It is fast and easy to get the two ends off to shoot, totally silent, waterproof and it gives your scope some protection against any impacts from trees, etc.

Pretty cheap and lasts for years. My buddy learned it years ago from a bear guide in BC.

Pete

The vortex defender flip up caps are much better than the butler creeks.

I confirmed with Bushnell today that Prime series riflescopes do not ship with lens caps.
Butler creeks are on the way (hopefully I measured correctly) and will be here tomorrow along with a set of rings... because I also bought the wrong rings LOL.
I ordered Weaver style rings, but forgot that the rifle only has 11mm dovetails and not a 22mm rail (I had previously used an adaptor rail to install a red dot sight).

This shouldn't be so hard LOL, sometimes I am my own worst enemy

I use bulter creek caps. I can’t stand having lenses getting dusty because they don’t have caps on
