Parents are taxed to provide education for children. We have a right to have these kids educated without interruption from other kids. Suspension and expulsion are for removing students that regularly interrupt/ interfere with the other kids education. Should be pretty straight forward! Schools are no longer able to punish students. No spanking, slapping hands with a ruler, etc. In school suspensions cost extra money, tie up school employees or teachers. Schools have turned to suspension as punishment. All that does is make learning harder for the kid.
A gun in the car, knife in the pocket doesn't interfere with other kids education. This school missed a chance to use this as a learning experience. Could have required the guy to write a paper on gun violence. Could have had him give a speech to the whole school. Etc, etc.
I had to deal with this when my high school daughter had a pocket knife in her purse. Too many people involved in educating aren't that interested in actually doing that!

I worked at the mall of American for a couple years and that was my attitude, even with a police station in the place and roving patrol’s of police officers a lot of stuff happens there; a lot you never hear of on the news only if your actually there to hear the people talk about it afterwards

Several of the older boys went out with driver, and helped him drag it back and pull it into the stairwell of the bus. When they got to the school, they drug it down to a patch of woods and skinned and gutted it.

Later in the week, boys in the shop class butchered the deer, and the girls in the home economics learned to cook venison and it was served up in the cafeteria.

I was a little skeptical of the story, until I asked my mother about it. She was a year younger than my uncle and clearly remembered a deer being butchered and cooked at school. Today, the tale of a bus driver shooting out of the bus window would be a big story on CNN. Times sure changed in the last 75 years.

That's awesome !!

So, what would a school do if there was mass non compliance? Like EVERY kid that came to school had a firearm in their vehicle. Would they suspend the whole school?

Totally agree, i settled a few that way myself.

No denying the facts though, school shootings are nothing new. I graduated in 1988, the information age to me was 3 TV stations and the radio.

When my middle boy was a freshman in high school he drove his pickup in the shop at school to change oil. He has two guns in the pickup. Shop teacher told him to put a jacket over them. That some teacher taught hunter education for over 30 yrs in school. Every kid that went to school took the hunter ed class. That teacher has retired now and no hunter ed being taught

What a shame

I went to Penn State Main Campus in 1985 to 87 I had a .22, pump shotgun and compound bow in my dorm room. No issues at all, just had them in gun cases when walking a long way toward beaver stadium where I was parked. Put up fur in a guy's basement in town.
