If you know the dates I’ll see if my brother is available. He lives on the bay near the fort and used to guide a lot. Now days he travels a lot but still keeps current and guides when he can. My brother will fish the bays for reds and specks as well as some closer rigs for reef fish, amberjack, ling, and kings. His father in law is lisensed as well and he runs out 80 miles trolling for billfish, wahoo, and kings. Let me know when you want to fish and I’ll see what bro has going on and his fil.

I've been going on Reel Surprise Charters for the last 12 years. It's a bottom fishing charter with around 25 fishermen on the boat and most of them are snowbirds from the north. The phone number is 251-981-7173. Triggerfish season opens Monday and I'll be on the boat several times next week.

I would recommend sea spray charters out of Orange Beach. I've been with him on five trips but the group I go with have been fishing with him for 15 years. Every time I've been we filled the boat.

Season? I remember when trigger was considered almost a trash fish, of course in those days there were no seasons and if it was big enough to fry you kept it. But I will say the seasons definitely helped and increased size plus the season on snapper pushed folks to realize other fish like trigger are excellent eating as well. I actually prefer trigger to snapper. Its much milder and more tender. I usually just steam it with a little lemon and dill.

Thanks everyone, let me know how you do Jd63! ole’ dad, looks like you guys have done really good! I notice your fishing at night there with the tuna, did you guys do a 24hr outing or just an evening deal? Did you keep your tuna or sell it? I’ll have my two boys with me 9 and 12, i’m not to sure how that would go offshore if it was rough.

We always do a 3-day trip. Leave Sunday evening get back Wednesday. Normally fish anywhere from 80 to 125 mi offshore.

If your boys haven't been offshore before it probably wouldn't be a good idea to take them on an overnighter. I can't recommend any half day charters unfortunately. But good luck hope you find someone who puts you on the fish!

keystone, I can't help you with charter information but take some of the Atomic Fireball candies with you, if your boys start having problems have the eat one of the candies and keep them eating them on a regular basis. I can't start to tell you how they work but they are very effective on motion sickness and don't knock you out like a lot of the motion sickness pills do.
